Caves to Explore in the Riviera Maya
With over 150 underwater cave systems and more than 1,680 kilometers of mapped tunnels, the Riviera Maya is the world's premier destination for cave diving. This region is home to the planet's most famous and extensive cave networks:
Sistema Ox-Bel-Ha: The longest underwater cave system in the world, featuring 142 cenotes, stretching 269 kilometers, with a maximum depth of 57.3 meters.
Sistema Sac Actun: The second longest, with 252 kilometers of passages, 187 entrances, and depths reaching 101 meters.
Koox Baal: A 87-kilometer-long system, with 53 cenotes and a maximum depth of 26.2 meters.
Each system offers a unique experience—ranging from massive chambers to tight halocline restrictions, from bright white limestone tunnels to amber-colored walls, and from simple navigation routes to complex multi-stage dives. With crystal-clear visibility, a constant water temperature of 25°C, and diverse cave topography, cave diving in the Riviera Maya is truly unlike anywhere else on Earth.

Our Cave Dive Guide, Omar
After discovering the fascinating underwater world with military diving, I began to be passionate about this activity until it became one of my reasons for living. I love the feeling of peace that only water can give me, the fact of "flying" in a unique environment, discovering and exploring environments that are not accessible to be reached by most.
From here, I began my career as a PADI instructor, reaching the level of PADI Master Instructor, PADI TecREC Instructor and PADI Full Cave Instructor. This gave me the opportunity to work and explore countries such as Italy, Greece, Malta, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Argentina and now Mexico where I started my new adventure founding Diving4you.
